Show and tell
From Friday, 18th October, the children will have the opportunity to “show and tell” about an “interesting
item”. This could be a photograph of somewhere they have visited, a new baby or pet, or maybe something they have either made or found – e.g. a leaf or a shell. The learning potential for this time is both to encourage your child to communicate information effectively to their friends, boosting their confidence and also to listen carefully while someone else is talking (turn-taking).
In the past, we have had some super interesting items such as peat, freshly cut from the bog; awards/trophies – e.g. G.B./Irish dancing etc.; visitor leaflets from various tourist attractions; crafts; nature objects; musical instruments. I’m sure you and your child will have lots of fun deciding what to bring for Interesting Item Day.
Please remember – NO TOYS! We save that special time for Christmas!
