| About Our School |
 |
Ballymena Nursery School is ideally situated. It presently
caters for 104 children each day.
We offer part time morning or afternoon places during the
following times:
Morning classes: 9.00 - 11.30am
Afternoon classes: 12.30 - 3.00pm
Our nursery was designed and built especially for
pre-school children. Our pupils move on to many of the primary
schools in the area and close contact is maintained with them
in order to ensure that this is a smooth transition for the
children to make.
Our school was opened and is financed by the North
Eastern Education and Library Board. The teachers are
professionally trained and have qualified nursery assistants
working alongside them.
We recognise parents and carers as the children's first
educators and would encourage you to become involved initially
during settling your child into the nursery and then throughout
you child's time at nursery. It is a very special time for
everyone involved and one which will be bursting with fond
memories. We aim to build a trusting relationship with the
parents in order to create a nursery in which your child and
you can feel secure and at home! The nursery staff soon become
aware of each individual child's development and share this
knowledge with the parents.
The children are observed and listened to as they play.
Knowledge gained in this way is coupled with the knowledge the
staff already have to provide a tailored curriculum which is
thoroughly planned, attractive and stimulating. Our extensive
play resources are fully utilised to make dreams become reality
both indoors and outdoors.
With their specialist training the teachers and staff can
ensure that the quality and depth of experience meets your
child's needs thus providing an extension of the stimulation,
care and experience of their good home. A progressive provision
is made with things never standing still.
Learning opportunities are provided which permit each
child to develop his/her intellect, to communicate, to make
choices, to develop a healthy body and lively mind, and to
relate to others. The children are helped to form relationships
with the other children and with adults outside the family
circle thus promoting their confidence and sense of well-being.
Your child will work and play with others, learning to share
and take turns.
In summary...
We aim to provide the children with various indoor and
outdoor play opportunities which help them to develop many of
the basic skills and concepts that will be required of them as
they progress through education and most importantly through
their little lives. Through a rich program of play your child
will develop across each of the areas below... |

| Like each of you we all recognise that: Nursery School is the
first step in a child's education. Good experiences in the
early years, provides a foundation to be built upon throughout
the educational system. It is this foundation which we aim to
lay. |
